Journalist, broadcaster, man-child.

Mat has worked as a tech journalist for over 15 years, starting with freelance work for The Guardian and The Times, then joining US tech site Engadget.com, initially focused on phones and gaming.

Over the years, he has piloted a jetpack, met Justin Bieber, and uses his iPhone knowledge to prove that people’s dating profile pictures are taken from before COVID. He’s also partially to blame for everyone’s air fryer purchase.

Mat managed and edited Engadget’s popular newsletter and then wrote, produced and hosted a daily news podcast for several years, before evolving it into a weekly video series that’s published across the site and social media.

He spent several years working from Tokyo as the publication’s Japan Editor, before returning to London.

He’s now Engadget’s UK Bureau Chief, assisting with coverage across Europe and Asia.

Engadget has no connection to Mat’s comedy projects and doesn’t care about his thoughts on sushi, kettle bells or whatever else.

Engadget’s The Morning After

A weekly video series that crammed the biggest and most interesting tech things from the last seven days, with some silly seasoning. Written, produced, presented and shot by me, edited by the talented Brian Oh.
