Journalist, broadcaster, man child
(Translated from LinkedIn)
Mat has worked as a tech journalist for over 15 years, starting with freelance work for The Guardian and The Times, then joining US tech site Engadget.com, focusing on phones and gaming.
He spent several years working from Tokyo as the publication’s Japan Editor, before returning to London as UK Bureau Chief.
Over the years, he has piloted a jetpack, met Justin Bieber, and uses his iPhone knowledge to prove that people’s dating profile pictures are from before COVID. He’s also partially to blame for everyone’s air fryer purchase.
Mat manages and edits Engadget’s biweekly newsletter. (Biweekly as in twice a week.) He also created, wrote and hosted a daily news podcast for several years, before evolving it into a weekly video series that’s published across the site and social media.
Engadget has no connection to Mat’s comedy projects, and don’t care about his thoughts on sushi, kettle bells or whatever else.
A weekly video series that crams the biggest and most interesting tech things from the last seven days. Written, presented and shot by me, edited by the talented Brian Oh.
